Depression and NLP

    The past if full of mistakes, who says we can’t correct ourselves and change the future? All of us experience the need of motivation especially at times that we feel like we are stuck in a rot and can do nothing to change it. We will always experience discouraging moments and worst, these moments will drain your strength to do better, and make tomorrow seem hopeless. To escape from this kind of situation has been hard for all of us without the help of motivation or encouragement.     However, this is not always the case where a friend is always available and their support is not always the cure. Depression

    Depression is a mental state where you feel hopeless and tomorrow seems impossible to come. It comes with lack of motivation, energy and concentration. You will feel like you are inadequate to do things that others can do that made their lives better.  Depression has been the reason for addiction of narcotics, self-inflicted injuries, slow learning process, family breakups, health concerns, and also suicide. If you know the famous Kurt Cobain who ended his life at the age of 27 using a shotgun, you would see it as a perfect example caused by depression.
  
Types of Depression

    The major depressive disorder is associated with a person’s ability to do things normally or the impairment of a person’s ability to do the once-normal things that he does, like sleep, eat, study, or even show interest to things he enjoys the most.  This type of depression is disabling because you will feel hopeless and sad and usually lasts for days. This type of depression is reoccurring.
  
    Chronic depression is another type of depression that usually lasts for several years – a long term depression.  The symptoms are similar to major depressive disorder, but only it is mild and does not disable a person. Note that a person who suffers from chronic depression may also experience major depression.  The symptoms are “lack” or “over” of something and sometimes referred to sleep. A person who sleeps almost every day or finds it hard to sleep may be suffering from chronic depression. In addition to, a person who feels sad, lonely, or feels unworthiness, is possible to suffer from this disorder.
  
    Atypical depression is also a type of depression that results to weight gain of a person. It is found out that a person with this type of depression will suffer at least five of the common symptoms associated with major depression. This depression is hard to notice because it has the least symptoms for us to notice, however weight gain and over-sleeping are common signs if a person suffers from this type of depression.
  
    The last but not the least, is the bipolar depression or can be referred to as the manic depression. This is a mood disorder which causes dramatic change of mood in a short period of time. You can find a person who suffers from this disorder, happy right of this moment but insane the next minute you see the person.  They are also paranoid and they find it hard to sleep and they experience hallucinations sometimes.
  
    If you are depressed, your structure in life is destroyed that is why you find it hard to get back on track and you feel that you are lost (hopeless, worthless, lonely, sad and etc.) To recover from depression you need to restructure your life by recreating your daily routines; regain your structure in life. Eat good food and steer clear from unhealthy foods, because bad diet will also lead to any kinds of depression.

    To get enough sleep is a good “recipe” to recover from depression even though it is hard to sleep when you are depressed. Make a fixed sleep routine every day; sleep the same time every day to improve your sleep. A good rule of thumb is when you sleep at 8:00 PM in the evening and wake up after 8 hours.
  
    Exercise can help you recover from depression and this is the common practice that is out of your daily routine that is why you suffer from depression. Exercising helps your body to release endorphins that are responsible for to trigger the excitement in you. Develop a daily exercise pattern and hold-on to it and do it every day. A full 30-minutes cardiovascular exercise will do. (Eat a banana before you exercise because potassium from bananas will help your nerves to function very well)
